David Vanderpool, CEO & Founder

Combining experience with education and a fervent desire to serve the Lord in the developing world, David Vanderpool has grown up in the field witnessing first hand the power of service through love. His education from Abilene Christian University, SIFAT, Texas A&M University, and St. Andrews University uniquely prepared him for the many challenges of

international community development. His Bachelors is in Biblical Text from ACU, which he says fortified his foundation in Christ while driving him to find new ways to improve the lives of the global poor so that their spiritual lives may be made even richer.  After graduating from ACU, David studied at the Southern Institute for Appropriate Technology where he began his focus on agricultural development and water enhancement.  At Texas A&M he studied at the Bush School to receive a masters certificate in international studies and nonprofit management before moving on to the College of Agriculture to receive a Masters of Science in International Agricultural Development.  From St. Andrews he is in the process of earning a Masters of Science in International Aquaculture.

Responding to the devastating affects of Hurricane Katrina, David and his dad, David Vanderpool MD, served the gulf communities in Mississippi by providing medical care, immediate aid and relief, and essential prescription pharmaceuticals to the displaced and affected left in the area.  Out of this Mobile Medical Disaster Relief was born.  From there, Mobile Medical Disaster Relief, or MMDR (now known as Live Beyond), spread to Mozambique, Honduras, Haiti, Ghana, and many other countries.  David served as MMDR’s International Projects Director until 2012 when he was recruited by the US Army to work in Afghanistan as their agricultural specialist.  After completing his tour in Afghanistan, David returned to civilian life, married his long-time fiancée, Devin, and is completing his masters degrees at Texas A&M and St. Andrews.

Devin Vanderpool, President & Founder

Devin Vanderpool grew up in Kerrville, Texas, knowing that she wanted to serve the Lord in unimaginable ways. She graduated from Abilene Christian University in 2011 with a degree in History and a minor in Biblical Studies. She used her degree in history to get a teaching certificate through ACT San Antonio. She taught high school social studies for two years at the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program in Bryan, Texas. During and after college she took many mission trips to Haiti, Ghana, and Ukraine, where she was able to use her background in education to help struggling school programs. In Ukraine she was able to find funding for new computers and books for children in the Karlovka orphanage. In 2013, she married her college sweetheart, David Vanderpool and together they started IDEA Ops (International Development Extension Agency Operations). In January of 2014, they received their first contract to work in Haiti. Devin’s position as the Educational Development Specialist for LiveBeyond allowed her to start ESL classes, Haitian Creole Literacy classes, and begin a project to start a library for the organization. She had over 100 students in her program, all fighting for a chance to be in the program and develop their minds and talents to improve their community. One student even started an English club that continues to meet weekly to discuss issues in English.
